During the construction of a new barn, an arable farm in the province of North Holland was required to temporarily store the resulting rainwater on its own premises. Commissioned by technical installer KaRo and in cooperation with contractor Bervoets & Voogt, Genap installed five water silos with a diameter of 8.80 metres and a height of 5.06 metres. Each silo has a capacity of 308 m³, providing a total storage capacity of 1,540 m³. The rainwater is discharged from the silos at a controlled rate and can also be partially used for drip irrigation on the farm.
The five water silos are covered with GenaDome PRO covers. This self-supporting cover rests on support posts positioned around the silo and protects the stored water against dirt and other external influences. The GenaDome PRO also gives the silos a neat, finished appearance. For KaRo, this was its first installation of this new type of cover. The experience gained during the preparation and installation provides a solid basis for future joint projects.
“This first installation has given us valuable practical experience for future projects involving the GenaDome PRO.”
Hermen Niejenhuis, KaRo BV
