Waste incinerator ash sealing on the A2

On the section of the Beatrixhaven connecting road, Genap, commissioned by Grondbank Nederland BV, has equipped waste-incinerator-ash elevations with a sealing geomembrane construction. Waste-incinerator ash, a byproduct of waste combustion, is utilized as a construction material for embankments in road construction. This ash is covered with a sealing geomembrane, as legally required to prevent environmental damage. The employed HDPE 2 mm geomembrane features a textured surface, which, in combination with a drainage mat, ensures stability on steep slopes.

The sealing geomembrane constructions include:

• 18,500 m² of protective fleece NW20
• 18,500 m² of HDPE MST/MSB 2 mm textured geomembrane
• 14,000 m² of drainage mat
