Fully enclosed water reservoir in the desert

Genap has established a closed water storage reservoir in Al Ain, the fourth largest city in the United Arab Emirates, for a tree nursery. This reservoir comprises an advanced two-layer membrane storage system, with irrigation water being pumped between the layers. The membrane utilized is a special fiber-reinforced PVC membrane of 1150 grams per square meter, equipped with a “black-out” layer. This opaque interlayer blocks sunlight from reaching the stored irrigation water, thus preventing algae growth.

The top floating cover also prevents contamination from windblown sand during sandstorms and minimizes evaporation, especially considering the extremely high temperatures in the desert. The materials used for this project include:

• Genatex 1150 “black-out” ochre-yellow, totaling 6000 m²
• Protective fleece NW20, 3000 m²
• 14 ventilation valves
• Filling and suction pipelines
