At the request of Ballast Nedam, Genap installed the top seal for the IJsseloord II Landfill, located at the Velperbroek Circuit in Arnhem. This top seal consists of a mineral sublayer, a membrane structure, and a drainage mat, topped with a vegetation layer of one meter thick.

Landfills need to be sealed to prevent pollutants from the waste from coming into contact with rainwater. Such contact can lead to the spread of harmful substances into the groundwater, posing a potential risk to the environment and public health. The application of a top seal eliminates the risk of groundwater pollution.
