Closed reservoir in desert climate

Genap has completed a 20,000 cubic meter closed water reservoir for Al Dahra Agriculture LLC BayWa Greenhouse in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, on behalf of Westlandse Project Combinatie BV from Honselersdijk.

The Al Dahra BayWa facility spans 10 hectares and produces 3,000 tons of tomatoes with the goal of making the country more self-sufficient. The construction of this facility is characterized by the use of innovative concepts and advanced know-how. In line with this, the concept of Genap’s fully closed water reservoir was chosen, preventing both contamination of the stored water and evaporation.

Simply put, the system consists of two layers of plastic foil with water pumped in between. A built-in floating system provides extra buoyancy, while any gas formation can escape through built-in vents. The materials used are adapted to the climatic conditions in the UAE.
